An update a moment ago rewrote grub.cfg, removing my script to run Windows. Will it be ok for the next update if I make grub.cfg read-only, using “chattr i”? I mean, if I make it read only, will it mess up with the update next time?

If you add a snippet under /etc/grub.d then you can run grub-mkconfig and regenerate grub.cfg

You could of course ignore that and just throw it in usr local bin if it’s a singular binary
Is there a way to tell makepkg to not create pkg directory but install it immediately? It is installed system-wide anyway so why keep a copy of whole tree of program’s files

to not create != create then wipe it

The program is already compiled, I wan’t it to be installed in i.e. /usr instead of convenient $pkgdir/usr, omitting redundant copying stage

Hmm did someone mess up the deps?
No, this is a recurrent pacman issue. If an update removes a required provider for a dependency, it doesn’t search for other providers and simply fails
