Am I the only one who was issues starting Xorg session after recent updates?
What did you update just before the problem started?
Any recommendations of a laptop that fully fits archlinux?
And what did you update?
Should I specify which packages were updated?
any errors, during updates?
What do I do to resolve it?
Guys, please tell me which drivers should I install from archinstall for laptop Nvidia RTX 3050TI, All opensource, Nvidia open or Nvidia proprietary?
So, how it possible to fix?
Is it your system in general that won’t start or Xorg?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Java
Yes
The only thing I understood was that openjdk pkg from AUR which I installed
Sorry, I’m a noob and don’t understand Unix-based systems too well, so please be patient if you will.
Am I the only one who was issues starting Xorg session after recent updates? Did I just break it somehow? Xorg.0.log only shows warnings and a couple of errors that shouldn’t be critical for X to work, journalctl doesn’t seem to show anything relevant either. Any suggestions?
I use xmonad for a WM, but I also tried qtile I have for backup if I break xmonad configuration, if that matters. I boot into tty and startx from there, or rather sx now, but I tried sx, startx and xinit, and none work. The only thing startx says is:
xinit: connection to X server lost
Thanks in advance

If memory serves me, I did full system update, let me check pacman log real quick
Old hardware:
hp250g4 Intel Core i5-5200U with Intel HD Graphics 5500 (2.2 GHz, up to 2.7 GHz with Intel Turbo Boost Technology, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)
New hardware: ideapad 5 pro 16ach6 (graphics is optional amd or fu Nvidia)
The only thing I understood was that openjdk pkg from AUR which I installed
Why did you install java 11 from AUR?
I didn’t know what to do
And what did you update?
Everything
Should I specify which packages were updated?

any errors, during updates?
try update again
try update again
Nope, everything went smoothly
I tried updating again yesterday night, but I think it shouldn’t hurt to try again

nvidia ?
The funniest part is – nope, just integrated intel GPU
However, I think I saw either a warning or an error related to absence of multi-card support

send your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file
I’m afraid I can only either take a photo of my screen or type the contents out manually
10002.895] (EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
Oh, right, this one did raise suspicion. What do I do to resolve it?
pacman -Fy /usr/lib/dri/i965_dri.so
Most likely you want proprietary, because open source nvidia drivers usually suck and you won’t be able to use Optimus
I tried, but when i choose to install nvidia proprietary my system can’t boot

something is wrong here
I think you may wanna find nvidia.conf to resolve this – it usually takes some finagling when it comes to nvidia. Is it your system in general that won’t start or Xorg?
So, how it possible to fix? Or maybe I don’t need drivers, if I want to power off my Nvidia GPU
Nvm its fixed
Don’t just simply say that “it can’t boot”, you could simply look at logs in dmesg or journalctl with -b option to see what’s happening
I dont like the xfce design, but but your xfce looks very awesome ^^
Xfce is fairly decent and isn’t too demanding to resources
