How do you imagine that formatting is not recommended and ‘may damage your drive’?

I have a problem. I wanna use Arch on Asus TUF F15. But the UEFI is not detecting my USB.

Secure boot and fast boot both disabled. Doesn’t work.

then something is wrong with your hardware, or with the usb flash drive, or with the flashed image on it
dialectmaterial 2022-07-14 23:47:16
I did try the usb on other computer and it works super normal, must be this hardware.
JF049 2022-07-14 23:47:49
FYI, ultraISO doesn’t flash images as is as it tries to use its own bootloaders (syslinux) instead when seeing linux live cd/usb
I recommend balenaEtcher or Rufus (in DD mode) to flash the image if you’re on Windows

It’s usullay Microsoft that does this. In UEFI can you see both the hard disk and the ucb?

I used dd. Also the weird thing is that when I mount the USB (when I’m in the OS) can read all the files on it.

Check bootable drives in advanced mode

I tried multiple paths in the as added boot options, hell, i even reburned the iso on my usb
dialectmaterial 2022-07-14 23:58:27
I’m going crazy, i just bought this new laptop. My 10 year old think pad bios is so much more consistent and always works. What is this?
dialectmaterial 2022-07-14 23:58:56
Why does uefi exist and must they add and change weird shit?
dialectmaterial 2022-07-14 23:59:44
Mind you, the boot option doesn’t show in itself.
VIhuda 2022-07-15 00:01:13
As a last solution, you can boot into a live environment (like endeavour os) and format your hard drive. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED since you may damage your drive and fail to install anything else on the system. If live environments won’t boot up, you can use the advanced maintenance option from your windows and format everything from a cmd.
dialectmaterial 2022-07-15 00:01:45
It has arch on it
dialectmaterial 2022-07-15 00:02:13
But i wanted to reinstall it because i messed some stuff up
dialectmaterial 2022-07-15 00:02:44
I can boot into arch but it’s messy and slow
VIhuda 2022-07-15 00:04:00

I can’t boot into a live environment, i wish I could.

Hi guys, I think I’m the only one on the planet with this keyboard model. It does not have the PIPE key. I’ve already tested some combinations, AltGr , shift ctrl and no success. Has anyone ever seen something like this? How to type the PIPE symbol? Alt 124 doesn’t work, it only comes out 124 and in the browser changes the tabs.

I can’t use Arch without PIPE. 😅

I tried. Alt 124 (with numlock on). Both with the top numbers and with the bottom numbers (JKU). The result is the same: prints 124.
