use rsync –progress
Thank you for this idea! This tool turned out to be freaking awesome! I just copied a large archive (8.6 GB) to a USB 3.0 flash drive and it took about a minute to complete! 😱 When I do the same through the DE GUI or the standard cp command, it takes more than 20 minutes. 😂

run sync afterwards before you go around unplugging it without eject, it’s probably just cached writes

I never do that (unplugging without unmounting first). I did that once many years ago when I had just switched to Linux Mint and the result was less than pleasant, so I stopped doing it. 😁

Besides, if I do that, Disk Manager will crash. It needs about 5 extra minutes after copying is completed.

As a last solution, you can boot into a live environment (like endeavour os) and format your hard drive. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED since you may damage your drive and fail to install anything else on the system. If live environments won’t boot up, you can use the advanced maintenance option from your windows and format everything from a cmd.
I’m not experts in this, can you describe what kind of damage you can make in HDD / SSD ?
alvin_ylt 2022-07-15 04:06:06
Recently Firefox occasionally freezes and becomes unresponsive. Upon restarting the system, all cookies and cache are deleted. It usually happens when I’m using a dual monitor and streaming videos
Is it possibly a bug in the browser or is there anything wrong with my system?
Some suggested disabling hardware acceleration on Firefox. How does it actually work?

I see
The most intriguing part is that all the cookies are cleared when this happens

You mean running Firefox in safe mode and see if crashing happens?

and look at Compositing row. If there’s WebRender, you’re running on hardware. If there’s WebRender (software) you’re on non-accelerated backend.

Can you tell how to tweak the scrolling speed in Firefox? Whenever I scroll using the mouse wheel, it scrolls too fast. Whereas in other apps the scrolling is normal.

How do you imagine that formatting is not recommended and ‘may damage your drive’?
I experienced it myself. I was formatting my hard drives until apparently i deleted something called ssd sectors (?) and it broke. I don’t know what i did wrong or how it happened but it scared me so i warn people about it whenever i can.

Maybe those are bad sector or something like that, it could be that your SSD is aging too
I’ve reinstall windows & linux so many times and I never experienced that

This isn’t something i’d preach without knowing exactly how and why, much more information ofcourse
