Downloaded Sanctuary and Tropics benchmarks from here https://benchmark.unigine.com/
Then switched to NVidia with optimus-manager, ran benchamrks like normal executable, then disabled optimus-manager service, cleared up Xorg configuration, rebooted and made sure prime-run glxinfo32 shows up NVidia proprietary things and ran benchmarks as prime-run ./bin. Compared the results, that’s it.

Why you are soooo professional? Just talk as ppl do.

First of all, a properly coded bot will use the user ID, otherwise someone could add bots xD

Oh Yeah

This is very weird. Does the benchmark tells which card it’s using? Because I never saw 30% performance loss. You might loose a few FPS using prime render offload, but nothing like this.

Arch, has a very small base system, everything else you install is your choice.

Ubuntu has not too BUT you could remove the extra installed packages and other stuff

Yeah, it shows that NVidia was used, and I’ve also tested without prime-run just to feel the difference

I saw some performance loss with prime-run for some reason, usually only 15/20% (tested 6 months ago), but since then i’ve come to my senses and disabled the dgpu

May it be something is wrong with MX series?

Honestly no idea, only tested briefly when i bought the laptop to see what the nvidia hype was about.. not a fan so disabled it anyway

MasterDevX 2022-07-16 00:14:41
Well, the nvidia module is still loaded when swithed to Intel GPU even if lib32-nvidia-utils is uninstalled. But without this package everythong works. So the loaded module is not the reason.
MasterDevX 2022-07-16 00:18:23
Looks like something in the system checks if nvidia libs are present and uses them if they are, otherwise Mesa is used.

*Comrades, the Micro Softs and it’s allies slowly consume that which is dear to us, our bootloaders continue to weaken under this threat*
Well the problem is the os-prober which just doesn’t end probing, where should I start?

I’m very confused how you worded this.. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GRUB#Detecting_other_operating_systems is this what you mean?

Exactly, os-prober seems to start as usual with Warning: os-prober will be executed to detect other bootable partitions.
Its output will be used to detect bootable binaries on them and create new boot entries.
But then – BOOM – just nothing happens

Rob 2022-07-16 01:49:15
Nice, kill it and use uefi boot key instead
YakovTill 2022-07-16 01:52:21
That’s exactly how I managed to return to my sweet Arch after Win11 installation (I was forced sorry mum) but that’s not the way I would like to do that every time

Are you using the Windows ESP for arch? Or a beautiful separate one.. haven’t used grub for a few years now but the wiki page says it has to be mounted to find it.. idk

Sorry, can I ask what do you use instead of grub? I would not mind to take something even better if such thing exist

Running Windows11/Arch with systemd-boot, a separate ESP for each OS to keep them apart, using the uefi boot menu to switch

I guess maybe you need to mount the windows ESP somewhere and run os-prober again, atleast that’s what it sounds like from the wiki

The thing is os-prober stopped doint its job even before windows installation

consider using a sandboxed wine like bottles & conty
