Won’t I format disk partition if I change type of partition?

Anything not present in Chromium including colorful logo, dude. There is simply no logic and nothing will change even if u would like things I could name
YakovTill 2022-07-22 17:16:36
That’s simply not chrome, not even “version” of it
C0rn3j 2022-07-22 17:17:40
I am pretty sure you can easily override the logo yourself, that does not sound like a good reason to ship something.
YakovTill 2022-07-22 17:18:57
Do you really want to judge yourself which of my reasons are gOoD and which are not?

As a package maintainer, I’d say yes. 😂

YakovTill 2022-07-22 17:22:03
Then I already picked more reasonable repos:)

(I just setup arch in manual mode first time)

What do you require of Chrome that is not present in Chromium?

Well, unfortunately, chromium has hit a wall for me for corporate reasons.

grazzolini 2022-07-22 17:28:13
Long story short: Google f… us and removed the ability of chromium to make API calls to their proprietary API’s, for “reasons”.
grazzolini 2022-07-22 17:28:51
While you can still try to extract the API keys from a build of chrome and use them on chromium, I found at least one API where chromium and chrome differ.
grazzolini 2022-07-22 17:29:47
So no, the chromium version on Arch isn’t the same as google chrome. Having said that, I personally think we should never package chrome because google f… us in the first place.

You’re being too simplistic here. I’d say you can use chromium that’s on Arch repos for 99% of the things you would use chrome for. I found one instance where it failed me, after years of using chromium on corporate.

I can but I want chrome, hard to be more simplistic here.
And it’s already in AUR without any issues, we need just a tiny little step more

I gave an example (I know, lacking details, but still) of why I had to use chrome. I bet that with more time to investigate I could’ve even made it work on chromium, but I had a deadline. You have not given your reason (nor do I care). I don’t think the chromium maintainer has any interest in having chrome on Arch repos. And after what google did to us, I don’t think we even should have it. So your “little step more” won’t happen.

This looks insane from the outside.
“I want chrome, It’s in the AUR, but I dont have chrome.”
It’s… right there?

There is an environment variable available for overwriting current system GTK theme, GTK_THEME. Is there anything available for icon theme as well as for overwriting current icon theme?

I didn’t say I don’t have it
The question is why is it not in official repos like discord

Since you’re bringing the question up, the impetus would be on you to say, why should it?

Is not an answer, it’s a cop out.
You have a point, back it up.

Is it really a priority to have as few packages as possible? If not, why not then?

I remember screen sharing was not working in Chromium at all, so this was the only reason I switched to Chrome, where it works with no problems.

Don’t slip into a straw man, if you feel so strongly about it why do you have such a hard time saying why you want it there.
