Actually since we’re talking about networking do you have any idea why is NetworkManager so slow to connect to the internet? I’m connected via cable, running bspwm with lightdm as desktop manager. When the login screen appears and I enter my password instantly as soon as the login prompt appears NetworkManager takes like probably 7 or 8 seconds to finally connect to the internet.
Journalctl logs: http://ix.io/45aa
This seems to be an issue on some systems but not others – I have that same delay in bringing up a connection on boot and on resume, but someone else who was having the problem (and filed a bug upstream) then said it resolved itself.

Did you check your Ethernet speeds? Because I had to change my network interface settings to disable autonegotiation and force the speed.

Have you tried using another network manager? Or even no manager at all?
grazzolini 2022-07-22 23:23:44
Because it doesn’t seem to be a physical layer issue

Nope
grazzolini 2022-07-22 23:24:10
Also, network managers usually get out of the way once the interface is configured

Why would USB be a problem in this case?

It could be that depending on the amount of devices you have, if it shares the same bus as your network card, it could, in theory, affect the speed

My motherboard has 3 NICs, one 1G, one 2,5G (which I disabled) and a wireless one

Which is still enabled (I should disable it since I don’t use it)

How often do you need to connect to a new wireless network? Because I think using iwd client is very easy
