I’ve generated mirror list from arch website but still the same

terminal output would be helpful

The issue is fixed some servers were slow

define “completely disconnected” ?

I might have overexpressed. But as soon as I started the firewalld service, browser started giving errors. Lost acces through SSH, mDNS started popping errors on the log.

Edit: I have setup DNS on NM as localhost and ::1, and using dnscrypt as DNS resolver. I installed firewalld on one of my arch VMs and it did work. So certainly I have misconfigured my system.

I think that’s the point of the AUR, it has comments and flags and the like for each package.

PuzzDio 2022-07-25 14:58:03
Of course it’s never 100%

That’s not a fix, that’s a terrible workaround.
You are literally using something that has not seen an update for over a decade.

i know. but by ur reply above (make sure phone is not ancient) is no help at all. 1st, i need ssh running asap ( bexause i need to use rsync), 2nd the app fr Google store (ssh server) is only capable of using RSA-key, what can i do? if i can program android app, i wouldn’t be asking here for help.at all.

I didn’t mention anything about the device being ancient, I was talking about sshd being ancient.

yes, i know, u asked me to first upgrade the sshd so that it uses more secure encryption, but the problem is the only sshd app that i know fr google store is “ssh server”, and it only supports RSA key.. i cant help it, thats the latest version that available..
unless there is better method or app , in the mean time i will hav to make use of it .. rather something than nothing..

I have been using ssh through Termux but I’m not sure about your use case.

i just located simplessh after some reading in forum last night, so far, the app apart fr ” ssh server ” ,no other sshd app has recommendation. i wont even know if the sshd app itself is reliable privacy wise.. i used ” ssh server ” because there is a webpage recommended it.. hence i deem it is “safer” then those app that has got no recommendation. but since u showed me there are other app on f-droid.. i will be open minded and read the webpages tonight. appreciate it.

If i make a website recommending TotallyNotAScamSSH, does it make it any safer?

bettehem 2022-07-25 15:13:23
At least SimpleSSH is open source, so you don’t need to just trust it, you can look at the source

i am keen on it too.. but so far i hav not able to run it on termux
in rush, i chose the app that I have preinstalled some time ago.. start with easy one, get everything running, the slowly “upgrade” to better app.. at least nothing is in halt.

i understand what u said, but i was totally 1st timer in doing this rsync android to laptop, i hav to start somewhere… hence i started (and overcame a hurdle). now that i bumped into you guys with healthier app, i will “upgrade” after reading some info abt it. thx.

ArticOcean 2022-07-25 15:19:23
it seems that Google store is “pushing” a certain app (most likely benefit itself in some way) because simplessh never shows up on search.. until i hav entered the whole stream “simple ssh” the only it shows up

What? That’s backwards πŸ˜€ Play Store should be considered as the wild west. It has hundreds of thousands of apps, most of which have trackers, ads, malware, you name it. Google has an app verification process but time and time again, it’s proven to be total bullshit. The playstore is filled to the brim with more than questionable apps. You don’t get that problem with f-droid. If you have an app you don’t trust, you can always check the source code and verify it isn’t doing anything suspicious

Are those app with advertisement built-in considered as tracker? and those “free to use” app (available in playstore) with built in ads hav no place in f-droid?!

You’re running proprietary garbage off Play store at the moment that hasn’t seen an update in over a decade.
How is switching to a modern open source alternative going to be less “safe”?
