🤢 wasn’t aware of this, it’s cheap I doubt anyone would even consider official support
cheap? what’s your salary and how do I get it
SwitchAxe 2022-07-30 01:09:19
DoctorRichter 2022-07-30 01:08:41
if it were an issue with steam os I’d take it to valve
well, post the message again and hopefully the mods will understand

nah im not taking a chance. martin is a little trigger happy what with all the people asking for debian support. ill just keep digging through the manual, even though I already tried all that.

that’s also fair

You can always post it in the Tavern instead, then there’s no risk

@C0rn3j what gives. It’s an issue with arch on the steam deck how is this “other distributions”
Arch or Holo?

I myself out Arch twice on my deck, but went back to steam os
grazzolini 2022-07-30 01:46:32
There are too many downstream changes that are important
grazzolini 2022-07-30 01:47:04
Perhaps when valve release their pkgbuilds, things might change
Lupinoh 2022-07-30 01:57:31
The error is “Exit code 256: end cannot be before start” or something like that, the things i made were:
Setting keyboard, system and clock to italian
Added the setting to install grub instead of sys
Specified desktop profile to Xfce4
Specyfing my SSD disk, making a partition mounted on / and the vfat Windows mounted on /boot
I cannot post on hastebin, or – if i can – i just don’t know how to do it from the usb lol
Lupinoh 2022-07-30 01:58:18
Thank you

Guys, how do I limit Wireguard cpu usage? It maxes out my VPS and the provider shuts it down. I tried limiting it though docker, but that didn’t pan out

What kind of vps provider shuts down customer systems at random😅

Cheap ones

Like that:
Hello,
your VPS is non-standardly using allocated resources. This may be caused by crashed operating system or hosted application. Please check your VPS health.
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:28:32
I have a vps from Hetzner. It’s quite cheap and this has never happened
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:29:00
Yeah, but I paid that thing up for a year ahead and there is still half a year left
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:29:12
So I’d like to mitigate the issue for now
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:29:39
I see😅 I pay monthly
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:30:36
how exactly are you trying to use wireguard that it uses so much of your cpu

bettehem 2022-07-30 08:30:36

Well, you watch something on YouTube and it maxes out
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:31:32
And speed is quite bad as well
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:31:54
Shadowsocks on the same server does pretty good by itself
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:32:08
Giving me 55 mbit/s of 100 I have
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:32:24
But Wireguard only does about 25-30 max
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:32:35
And still manages to max out the cpu
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:35:37
You are trying to watch youtube on the vps? Why? Why not just watch on your local PC, which is most likely much better suited for video playback

It’s a way to speedtest
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:36:41
Madness. Why not just use speedtest-cli
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:37:06
But this kind of usage sometimes does come around. For example, my phone downloads podcasts in the morning and gets 10 to 15 minutes of constant download that is sometimes enough for the provider to shut the thing down

Well, it’s too quick to actually tell if CPU maxes out or not
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:38:08
Why are you trying to max out the cpu
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:40:42
I’m confused as to why exactly you need the vps. You should be using those to host your own servers etc, not watch youtube
twrsch 2022-07-30 08:41:25
bettehem 2022-07-30 08:38:08

Ugh, it’s getting complicated for no reason. I sometimes have prolonged max bandwidth usage on my devices (downloading something, usually) and that thing kills my VPS. I use Youtube in 4k as a stress-test to test various ways to cap the CPU usage, I don’t plan to watch Youtube with VPN or something

Are you using your vps as a vpn?
