Linux is not Windows, problems have solutions.
Next to nothing you can mess up requires a reinstall.
grazzolini 2022-08-02 00:18:39
How are you installing?

You’ll end up with the same problem if you don’t follow the installation guide

I expected more from an aviation geek

here’s why you don’t have a clue about the errors

Recently I saw a comment on Reddit that said something like “The only reason to reinstall system may be when you screw up your disk with dd. Everything else is fixable”. I really loved this one.

Yes. And who knows what you’ll miss this time?

There are reasons
grazzolini 2022-08-02 00:23:10
But they are few
Massimalieno 2022-08-02 00:24:01
i once deleted pacman cuz why not, had to reinstall
il_muflone 2022-08-02 00:24:27
the wiki has a page about restoring a corrupted pacman
Massimalieno 2022-08-02 00:25:01
was too dumb for that 😀

Yep. But in general you are able to find the cause of almost any issue and fix it.
MasterDevX 2022-08-02 00:30:01
I mean it is sometimes just easier to reinstall when things are messed up a lot, but in most cases it is still fixable without reinstalling

One of the reasons to reinstall is when you made so many untracked changes to your system to try and fix an issue that you broke it. It would take less time reinstalling than trying figure things out

Exactly

It’s not “somehow”. If any libs it uses gets a so bump, it needs a rebuild

Before doing that you need to learn how the AUR works
grazzolini 2022-08-02 02:11:55
A helper is not infallible

What do you mean by “how AUR works ? ” AUR is just a trial packages that not yet stable enough to be fit into official depo..
is this what you mean to ask me ?

No, the AUR isn’t that. You’re completely wrong

oh.. Then i might have misunderstood AUR then.

grazzolini 2022-08-02 02:16:09

Any linux packages.. any packages that we can run makepkg to compile the sourcecode on github

Hmm, only packages published on the AUR are considered AUR packages. If they are also on GitHub, it’s a completely different thing
grazzolini 2022-08-02 02:18:46
Even though you might be able to use pkgbuilds from GitHub to get a installable package on Arch with makepkg
grazzolini 2022-08-02 02:18:56
Good luck solving dependencies though
il_muflone 2022-08-02 02:19:04
AUR is a collection of build instructions to assemble packages from everywhere
