I’m trying to re-route my audio just like I have done on Windows and I have installed Pipewire and Carla but I can’t find a way to get the audio from different applications in Carla. In Windows I usually had to change the sound output of a software to VoiceMeeter Input but I guess it doesn’t work like this on Linux.
(Am I even doing this right?)

You can add plugins and mods to the patchbay in carla and them connect applications to them using the patchbay interface, so yes, Carla is the right way.

just switched to PipeWire, so far so good. Trying to find out how can I use my computer as a Bluetooth audio receiver/sink/speaker, so I can stream to Oculus to it. any pointers (apart from 0xdeadbeef)?
Your PC will appear as a Bluetooth sink, so just pair to the HMD and set its output accordingly.

indeed, quest thinks it has connected to something with A2DP profile, and i don’t get any sound from its built-in speakers anymore. OTOH the audio isn’t playing on the laptop either

See if they have OpenVPN profiles you can download. Wireguard would work too. Then just use an OpenVPN or Wireguard client.

It’s a simple patchbay, no plugin or volume support (yet), but it’s a great dedicated manager for pipewire system

You can try using the pw-link command. Examples in the manpage should be enough to get you started. If you need to, you can try to automate that using udev rules or systemd services
