if you have kmenueditor there should be an option to edit graphically which will update all the caches for you
fuck, changing the title and hitting “ok” updated the cache
bryanpedini 2022-08-16 23:53:19
now there’s no “quit teams” anymore, there’s no icon, like it should have been from the beginning SINCE I UPDATED YOUR STUPID FILE UNDER YOUR ASS YOU MORON DE
bryanpedini 2022-08-16 23:53:31
that’s what I love about Plasma ❤️😂
bryanpedini 2022-08-16 23:54:14
probably the command was wrong, I used the full path, it didn’t care because it had the wrong command in cache, I kept updating the .desktop trying different things and he still used the wrong version in the cache 🤦♂️

ask Martin how it went the last time both with KDE and Nano 😂
bryanpedini 2022-08-16 23:55:32
we were both told to just F ourselves (politely of course)

i have a quality sandal to smack anyone that decides your bug isn’t a bug :p

use the full path, not ~ which doesn’t mean anything
can I use $HOME to make it independent of my specific setup? is that var available under the DE env?
pontaoski 2022-08-16 23:57:02
this is a desktop file, not a shell

~/bin is not a standard path, what you want to standardize?

yeah, that’s probably why it was kept in cache

I’ll put everything in ~/.local/bin from now on if that matters so much…
il_muflone 2022-08-16 23:57:45
it lives in your home only, not in every user home
bryanpedini 2022-08-16 23:58:05
it was just to shorten things up when I had to write it in the terminal 😒

il_muflone 2022-08-16 23:57:45

it lives in the home directory of every user that used the teams-in-docker repo 😅
bryanpedini 2022-08-16 23:59:29
F* it now it works
stupid cache
problem always have been the cache from the beginning
il_muflone 2022-08-16 23:59:34
I think it’s hugely DE+launcher dependant

the cache “issue” yes
the ~/bin folder and the .desktop file, no, those are “standard” for that particular repo
bryanpedini 2022-08-17 00:00:51
(and all of mines too, I’m too lazy to add .local in between… nano bin/whatever is easier)
il_muflone 2022-08-17 00:01:23
it’s not documented any shell variable

I mean the assumption ~ or $HOME would work

oh, misunderstood
also I didn’t assume, I asked 😜
il_muflone 2022-08-17 00:02:43
or better speaking, it’s explicitly told “The executable program can either be specified with its full path or with the name of the executable only”

why then the full path is valid while teams by itself is not in the .desktop file?
on the terminal both are perfectly functional
bryanpedini 2022-08-17 00:03:50
I think my DE doesn’t eval bashrc to construct PATH when launching the GUI env

the executable will be searched in the current PATH variable of course
bryanpedini 2022-08-17 00:05:38
well… thanks Muflone, TIL to never trust caches (nor your system in general) and always assume that you need to refresh something
bryanpedini 2022-08-17 00:05:53
like with that echo “teams launched” >> ~/teams.log
il_muflone 2022-08-17 00:08:17
never assume anything, except my word, of course

Is there a way to use the Idemia morpho 1300 Fingerprint reader with Linux?
V3NK4135H 2022-08-17 06:12:58
On their website it says linux is supported but I can’t find any drivers or anything anywhere
