Hello, everyone. I need help on understanding this.
I’m thinking of migrating my current installation of Arch (on Intel hardware), residing on a separate SSD, to a new system (AMD hardware). I know it is just adding that SSD to the new laptop, but what else do I need to change first?

My bluetooth keyboard doesn’t autoconnect after I unsuspend my computer. How can this be fixed?

I hope nothing needs to be changed, AMD & Intel doesn’t need any special config. Only make sure to change the fstab entries if needed.

Are microcodes absolutely necessary?

alexandarzaric 2022-08-21 10:40:13
As per arch wiki: “Processor manufacturers release stability and security updates to the processor microcode. These updates provide bug fixes that can be critical to the stability of your system. Without them, you may experience spurious crashes or unexpected system halts that can be difficult to track down.

All users with an AMD or Intel CPU should install the microcode updates to ensure system stability. ”

Hello, I want to run a script whenever I connect a bluetooth keyboard.

Here is /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules

SUBSYSTEM==”input”, ACTION==”add”, ATTRS{address}==”cf:57:78:7e:88:32″, RUN+=”/etc/udev/refresh-kbd.sh”

Here is /etc/udev/refresh-kbd.sh

#!/usr/bin/env sh

xkbcomp ~/.config/xkb/config “$DISPLAY”

## Start cursor movement after 250ms and at 45 lines per second
xset r rate 250 45

This doesn’t work, what did I do wrong?

P.S. Can I do this for any keyboard I connect, not just the one with specific MAC address?

Are you sure the script has the correct env values you’re looking for?

I found a neat program inputplug that does exactly what I need and on a higher level than udev

I was trying to connect my usb to a windows 10 VM so
I went here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/USB_storage_devices
first added the current user of the vbox users group, rebooted then
entered this “mount -o gid=users,fmask=113,dmask=002 /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbstick”
successfully mounted, no problems on my host machine, so I went and checked the virtual box settings, nothing wrong as far and as I know. But when I boot into
my windows 10 VM I don’t see my usb, I just can’t access it. Any clues? about what’s wrong?!?

I’m on Qtile

romelsalwi 2022-08-21 13:05:57
Or a script I can embed to check on daily bases?
MasterDevX 2022-08-21 13:06:15

Then you can write your own script that runs pacman -Sy from time to time and checks the output of pacman -Qu. Then it can use notify-send to tell you if there are updates available. But be aware of partial upgrades when using -Sy.

romelsalwi 2022-08-21 13:07:06
Ok. Let me look into it

But pacman requires escalation. How can I integrate that?

There are updates available every day.
Why do you need an utility to check which you already know?

You could use KVM and virt-manager instead of a third party hypervisor, there you can simply forward USB devices
