It seems like you don’t have any init system (systemd) installed or something bad happened during the installation. Or you told it to mount wrong root file system. Have you followed the installation process article on the Arch Linux Wiki?

I am reisntalling windows for dual boot. How should I format the hard drive? Should I create a separate partition for Arch in Windows installer?
fabiscafe 2022-08-27 10:22:13
I’d go the other way around. create the partition structure from a linux first. So that you have a big enough EFI System Partition and such stuff.

I already have windows on this pc. Don’t really want to mess with other partitions

besides, seems like I have BIOS, which is weird

I don’t know what CSM is. I just bought a used laptop with windows 10 on it

sarmong 2022-08-27 10:32:48
It is lenovo legion 5

That should be UEFI. CSM is a BIOS emulation

Thats probably just the uefi firmware version with a more “user friendly” name

Hello,
after my last arch update the system do not start.
I can see for maybe 1sec “Welcome to grub” textfield. And directly after that I get into “Asus BIOS Utility – EZ Mode”.
This happens on each boot…

I had never such or similar problem with arch… Do you know what happend and how to solve this?

I have only arch installed…. (No dual boot) And its running now for about 7month without problems.

If you’re using grub, is it this?: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/75701

Does anyone use those old ATI Radeon (TeraScale and older) cards? How are you dealing with a fan control? Even in radeon-profile, the Fan tab is disabled. I know there’s a program for windows called MSI Afterburner and it is capable of setting manual fan speed despite amd catalyst doesn’t have such setting.

Anyone using this WiFi adapter: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188FTV 802.11b/g/n 1T1R 2.4G ?

There is a driver for this device in AUR named 8188fu-kelebek333-dkms-git, but it isn’t working on the 5.19 kernel. Any idea other than downgrading the kernel?

I just burnt arch iso onto a thumbdrive, however, it is not showing up in boot menu on my Legion 5. However, it is showing on my other laptop. What could be the problem?
sarmong 2022-08-27 11:08:52
It was showing before with windows installation on it

No idea about the name difference, but it did work prior to kernel 5.18

You should be on latest to rule out any weird bugs

Switch to Linux-lts for the time being and consider buying a better chip.
There’s probably an issue about it on the driver repo, if there isn’t, open one yourself
