no, it’s complicated.

If thats the case, you might want to use https://os.gnome.org/ in a VM for testing, as rewriting that PKGBUILD (You can take inspiration here) + resolving the dependencies also isnt to easy.

tbh it’s still very crashy and keyboard actions also very much suck in the beta. If you need a terminal you also need to have console(kgx) 43.beta installed. If you’re interested how it looks, go for the GNOME OS in a VM. If you want to help testing to report bugs fcgu might be your chance (not reliable, beta quality, do not expect things to work) 😂

thank you, i try install with VM.

I updated my system, runned sudo grub-install and after reboot it gives me out of range pointer error. I tried from live media to chroot into the system and run similar commads (grub-install, grub-mkconfig) but it didn’t help. Are there some easy solutions or should I just reinstall the system?

Current grub package has issues(see the new pin), you could try downgrading or switching to systemd-boot instead, if your system has UEFI and not BIOS.

Ok, thanks

What’s in the log? Why did the mount fail?

I am not able to log anything in this UI, the keyboard is not working and I am not sure what is the cause for Mount fail

So CTRL+D doesn’t reboot?

!esp perhaps

Sridhar02 2022-08-30 14:43:32
Okay I will try that out, do you think it is not realted to grub ?

*shrug* I don’t use grub

BasiIios 2022-08-30 14:07:37

this might be due to multiple grub entry. you need to get into motherboard settings and change the boot order and also after getting into the arch use efibootmanager to delete the other entries, for this there is details given in the wiki

Why install another bootloader when one already comes with your system?

That I have no problem with defaulting to systemd-boot

That I have no problem with defaulting to systemd-boot

how’s the status of systemd-boot?

tomazcanabrava 2022-08-30 15:48:52
I use grub *just* because it was the default when I installed my system
tomazcanabrava 2022-08-30 15:49:01
but I’d prefer something simpler, I don’t do dual-booting
saldorin 2022-08-30 15:49:31
In that case systemd-boot or rEFInd are way leaner than grub for sure ^^
saldorin 2022-08-30 15:50:10
decided for rEFInd for my current setup and its really neat once you understand the config
saldorin 2022-08-30 15:51:36
only missing feature (that might be relevant for me at least) is that grub can have encrypted boot. Although that is too slow for my liking anyway

Another thing is that grub can have boot on lvm

ufoludek 2022-08-30 15:52:49
I don’t know if any other bootloader can have that

As long as you only have one ESP, it just works.

I tried to setup lts kernel and updated grub file.

Then I reboot to use LTS kernal..
