It’s the iso… Am I right?
You do have sysrq keys fully enabled, right?
did you do a pacman -Syu already?
Did I missunderstand something?
I believe someone already suggested that you use the archiso to chroot into the installed system?
Do you happen to use BTRFS?
It is happening the same with you guys?

This is not your system.

Yeah
It goes into grub rescue

What next
From the chroot.

From the chroot.
Yeah

Yeah
Mount your partitions and chroot into your system, and then run the command you were asked. It’s no use if you just run it on the iso and not on your actual system.

Sounds like your kernel sudoku’s.
You do have sysrq keys fully enabled, right? As in the B combo works normally
Seppuku, not sudoku 😂

Seppuku, not sudoku 😂
Sudoku is an intentional misspelling, often used for humoristic reasons

so in the meantime the bugreport about the problems after updating grub is closed now…
I do not exactly understand the procedere what users of grub have to do in future.

Do I have to look carefully on each update if there was an update of the grub package and then
call grub-install/grub-mkconfig?
Did I missunderstand something?

It boots into grub rescue all the time…
And
cat /etc/os-release. Can’t be executed there

I need help…
I just switched on ma pc today and was greeted with this
This is actually what happens…

If you update the GRUB package and also want an updated GRUB loader then you’ll have to reinstall the loader too.

You’ve ALREADY been told to chroot into your system to execute the command.
If you’re not familiar to arch-chroot.. Then read
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/chroot

Do you run Arch?
If so, nothing is needed on regular updates.
Do you need to regenerate grub config?
Probably best to install latest GRUB beforehand.

Of course its Arch.
No I dont need so.
But after my last update my system was not able to Boot…
I had to arch-chroot/grub-install/grub-mkonfig…
Now I wonder if I have to do grub-install/grub-mkonfig after each -Syu where grub was updated…

Do you happen to use BTRFS? Because me and someone I know had the same problem, it’s in Arch news now (although a bit late) but people I know that use EXT4 didn’t experience it

It’s a good idea to have a pacman hook to update grub on your device. grub-mkconfig already is automatically ran. I had that since I needed to sign the grub EFI stub due to secure boot. I don’t use grub anymore, but I wouldn’t have been affected by this issue, due to that. If I recall correctly, there’s an example of said hook on grub’s wiki page.

I used the grub cryptboot one, because I had encrypted boot and SB
