we don’t do shutdown, we just suspend it, just need 1 second, off or on

Heyy for the first time I accidentally completely deleted everything that was on my arch Linux partition, how can I recover it? I don’t know if this can help but it was all on an external SSD and there was nothing else on it
Take the drive to a data recovery specialist if it’s important.

Do you think I could accomplish anything meaningful with SystemRescue?

If the data isn’t important then you can try the various tools and see what happens.

testdisk and R-Linux are good tools to deal with lost linux partitions and data recovery. For Windows, Zero Assumption Recovery (paid app) helped me to recover Ext partitions too when I had nothing else but Windows machine
G 2022-09-10 17:51:36
The problem is executed rm -rf / (lol) in a directory that was not / and because I forgot the . before the / it started deleting everything but I interrupted it before it could delete everything.
At this point I’m very worried so I try to do anything to recover the directories. I followed some online guide and I mounted the partition in a directory I created for that purpose.
Afterwards I deleted it because I could not unmount it no matter what (I wasn’t aware of the consequences) because it was stopping me to use another command to recover the directories and so I deleted basically everything.
Just the story of why I’m a dumbass sorry for it being so lengthy

Could you send me a link for Zero Assumption recovery? When I search for it I only get shady websites like softonic and the apparent official website says it’s discontinued and replaced by “Klennet recovery”

JF049 2022-09-10 17:59:46

You can try both anyway

no, unless you need something like steam
And steam you’re much better off sandboxing anyways, installing steam from flatpak does not require multilib
Oski146 2022-09-10 18:05:08
Steam can delete the whole system at once liike the recursive command

Only your home folder, not system folders.
Any app can by default.

Ah ok, on ubuntu where i coming from it deletes the whole system at once when theres an error installing it
Oski146 2022-09-10 18:06:24
