Bloody hell the uuid is gone again, hmm maybe I flag it wrong?
Um, is that your efi boot partition?
Do you have access to some other computer that does have internet access you could build it from?

And update-grub runs fine in the chroot which I assume writes to that partition

It doesn’t if it isn’t mounted
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:33:12

i see i see, thanks!
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:47:28
Also I just realized my system is set up to boot in legacy mode so uefi shouldn’t be an issue
qontinuum 2022-07-11 20:48:11
It isn’t, that’s the check of the filesystem referenced in the fstab that is
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:48:33
When I swapped out motherboards in my pc, I had to set it up this way because its an older platform and the uefi support is shoddy
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:49:48
Okay well the grub is reinstalled so I’ll reboot shortly to see if it works now
qontinuum 2022-07-11 20:50:20
If you haven’t fixed the fstab it will not work
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:51:56
I did
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:53:38
And I have an fsck fail on the brand new uuid
predator8bit 2022-07-11 20:55:19
At least now it doesnt auto reboot, gives me the chance to plop in my root password to fix it
predator8bit 2022-07-11 21:11:49
Bloody hell the uuid is gone again, hmm maybe I flag it wrong?
predator8bit 2022-07-11 21:12:55
I made it an ext4 fs to make sure I wouldn’t run into issues with it
ChrisCromer 2022-07-11 21:18:57
Um, is that your efi boot partition? If so it absolutely must be fat, not ext4.

how can I make my RTL8811AU work in the base installer lol
predator8bit 2022-07-11 21:42:28
I cant believe this
predator8bit 2022-07-11 21:42:55
I simply deleted the line related to that partition in my fstab and it boots
predator8bit 2022-07-11 21:43:21

I have the drivers to build and install them but I do not have tools in the LiveISO to install them, this PC doesn’t have access to cable Internet so I need to get the USB Wi-Fi card running. any ideas?
ChrisCromer 2022-07-11 22:11:30
Do you have access to some other computer that does have internet access you could build it from? If so you could modify a base install tarball via chroot and install everything you need. Then just unpack that tarball on that computer that doesn’t have internet.

ChrisCromer 2022-07-11 22:13:17
Here are 4 recent tarballs. Basically all you need to do is extract one, chroot into it. Install everything you need, build the kernel, etc. Then compress it, copy it to that computer and extract it into an new partition.
ChrisCromer 2022-07-11 22:14:51
Or build a custom ISO with everything in it… but that is harder than just chrooting in and installing your packages and building the kernel module.

There is absolutely nothing magic
predator8bit 2022-07-11 22:18:16
the sda partition is again empty without an id or other info, like in the pastebin
predator8bit 2022-07-11 22:18:31
I just removed it from the fstab and it works
qontinuum 2022-07-11 22:18:38
That’s normal if you didn’t touch it yeah
predator8bit 2022-07-11 22:19:03
altho now pacman is whining about not being able to verify packages with pgp
qontinuum 2022-07-11 22:19:07
Yeah there is nothing magic, you just added a random line in your fstab so removing it obviously fixes the thing
predator8bit 2022-07-11 22:19:13
not even the keyring itself
