what i learned about moving other people to linux/off windows is that they need to be so computer illiterate to not know what an operating system is or annoyed enough by windows nonsense that they are willing to put time in learning something new

I had this too.
Instead of pacman -Syu, upgrade just that package first, pacman -S archlinux-keyring and then the normal upgrade will work for other packages.

but for the other side of the sentence, my mother had a windows xp laptop back then and windows just nuked itself once a year for some reason. so i just said “i am going to install something that doesnt break” and ever since then linux mint just works and she doesnt even know its linux mint. set it to automatically install security updates too.

all but 2 games i have work on native or proton at this point and i am just not going to bother with any games that wont work. not worth it.
