hi is there a scripted way to remove all partition from a drive? I found some dd options but they are very slow and overwrite all blocks in the disk, I just want to wipe out partitions

If you just want to wipe the partition table and not the actual data you can just create a new partition table with fdisk/parted/… Or overwrite the beginning of the disk only with dd

yeah I’ve used them but sometimes the partition remains and cause problem with the creation of new subvolume with btrfs

I guess you could do something like

dd if=/dev/random of=$dev bs=8192 count=4

dd if=/dev/random of=/dev/sdX bs=8192 count=4

You could also just use the force option of mkfs.btrfs
