Cinnamon is what gnome 3 should have been… I consider it the modern evolution of gnome. Mate is basically just gnome 2 with modern libs…

I assume you dislike gnome 4*?
ChrisCromer 2022-07-30 00:27:02
Same shit, bigger number.
ChrisCromer 2022-07-30 00:27:16
Gnome died at 2.
ReßéL 2022-07-30 00:27:28
gnome basically copying mac, no man with taste would like gnome
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 00:27:51
Oh oops
ChrisCromer 2022-07-30 00:28:06
Gnome development is basically just taking away functionality and forcing people to make addons to re-add that functionality again…
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 00:28:09
Phoronix no Good?

Phoronix no Good?
It’s fine… what is prohibited is forwarding messages from channels.
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 00:28:37
Oh okay
ChrisCromer 2022-07-30 00:29:02
Basically spammers use channels to flood groups with spam/advertisting/porn/etc.
ChrisCromer 2022-07-30 00:29:13
So we have channels blocked here.
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 00:29:25
Ah yeah okay, here’s the link then its on topic https://www.phoronix.com/news/GNOME-Secure-Boot-Warning
GNOME To Warn Users If Secure Boot Disabled, Preparing Other Firmware Security Help –
PhoronixGNOME and Red Hat developers are working on integrating firmware security tips and recommendations into the desktop for warning users about platform/firmware security issues like if UEFI Secure Boot is disabled and other possible avenues their system could be exploited.
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 00:29:58
Thank you
ChrisCromer 2022-07-30 00:30:19
No problem, now you know. I won’t remove the warning in the future if you do it again. 😏
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 00:31:42
I’ll be careful haha
wardenunit 2022-07-30 00:52:24
What’s your thoughts on Pluton module (tl;dr it’s hardware DRM, like whitelist of available OS versions) M$ integrating to AMD+Intel+Qualcomm CPUs? It’s already present in Ryzen 6000 laptops.
Would there be any other ways to bypass it, except staying on older hardware or hoping for open hardware?

Let’s be as much pessimistic and paranoid as possible
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 01:01:34
Well a lot of servers and computers too need to run Linux for some reason or another. Plutonium might just become like secureboot or something idk. It’ll be difficult to push that though. Amd does support the Linux community and I don’t see them blacklisting Linux from their hardware
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 01:01:45
Intel on the other hand… I don’t like them too much
qontinuum 2022-07-30 01:03:08
ChrisCromer 2022-07-29 22:16:00
Let’s make the new distro before the hardware is available. 👍🏻
It is actually the opposite from what I am saying
RISC-V boards are available for at least 3 years now

If you got one now though could it be used?
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 01:05:03
Like for a server for example
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 01:05:10
Or just a media pc

I don’t have one so I couldn’t say since I can’t try it
qontinuum 2022-07-30 01:05:44
I only have x86 and ARM servers
wxlfsangel 2022-07-30 01:06:55
What’s the support like though for risc-v, are there operating systems ready for it?
