So everybody that wants runit, be nice to Q and kiss his ass. 😏

Nah, all of our maintainers prefer OpenRC, s6, and dinit…
ChrisCromer 2022-08-04 23:07:32
All hail Q, keeping the dead runit alive for a little longer.

Same dev as wireguard 😎

If you really want to make him angry, stop maintaining runit. 😂

I don’t think he uses it

Projects that don’t compile anymore, projects that don’t work on modern systems, projects that are abandonded, projects that are replaced by other software, projects like runit that are dead in the water, etc.
What killed runit? Did the author abandon it?
ChrisCromer 2022-08-04 23:12:44
Ok…. then start maintaining whatever it is that he uses.

Yep, it’s no longer maintained.

Well, I maintain Python, MATE and some kernels as well + I maintained XFCE and ruby in the past, there is little chance for him to use Artix without using packages I maintain
lordV 2022-08-04 23:14:40
ChrisCromer 2022-08-04 22:57:02
The answer is quite simple actually… the main dev for runit on artix left the project to work on dinit. There were discussions of removing runit from Artix. Q stepped up and is maintaining it now… but it’s our weakest init and if Q ever leaves runit will leave too.
no idea why he loves it so much…

“Q isn’t my maintainer” is the new equivalent of “Trump isn’t my president”.

Author thinks runit does everything it should do
capezotte 2022-08-04 23:16:03
He went radio silent in 2018 or so, and by then runit hadn’t had a new release in 3 years.

Author isn’t even around anymore… if there are bugs or security holes in it, nobody knows since there isn’t any public tracking of that…
