How?
grakata_clem 2022-08-10 16:16:44
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:14:57
They have graphical installers and set this up pretty well, without much customization of configs, I think everything comes default as if installed from repo I think

Like in Manjaro…

grakata_clem 2022-08-10 16:16:44
Like in Manjaro…

Manjaro does their own configs

wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:18:06
And it can drive people away if they seek support with something, find manjaro users saying it won’t work, find arch or artix users saying it would work, and they try it and it doesn’t, but clearly does for the other two. They may just switch back to windows
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:18:33
And I mean you know their choice but having bad support in a community doesn’t help the overall Linux world

How ironic that you say it in the group where “fucktard” is probably the most used word

Very ironic

wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:20:00
But artix doesn’t claim to be noon friendly does it
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:20:07
Its not a “just works” distro
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:20:25
And in essence neither is manjaro, but they put on a show as if it is
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:20:39
Then noobs use it and learn hey these things broke
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:20:43
How to fix
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:21:06
And they’re used to fixing things like they did on windows probably, not by editing config files
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:21:19
At most they’ll have edited the windows registry
grakata_clem 2022-08-10 16:23:46
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:21:19
At most they’ll have edited the windows registry

While not understanding what they do because registry is a mess

wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:24:09
Yeah, and they’ll probably understand even less from config files in linux
grakata_clem 2022-08-10 16:28:40
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:24:09

Why? Config files are clear and have nice comments, while registry is a pile of scary names and obscure numeric values

Do all config files have nice comments?

wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:30:23
I’ve seen some more basic ones and I got through cause I could correlate what means what and all
grakata_clem 2022-08-10 16:30:35
If no comments, there is man…
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:30:38
But most people would see a text file and have a headache
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:30:46
People don’t want to read manuals dude
grakata_clem 2022-08-10 16:31:06
Then I wonder why do they even touch Linux
wxlfsangel 2022-08-10 16:31:29
Cause they’re told that some distros “just work”
Aurelian 2022-08-10 17:07:35
Some distros work more than others
Aurelian 2022-08-10 17:07:42

u sure? what test did you run?
i’ve heard about the dnsleaks, but not the ip address one.

WebRTC leak. makes tor on brave useless. try it, you’ll see

Then I wonder why do they even touch Linux

Well they can use Linux if they don’t want to read pages of doc/manual
They should just use a simple LTS distro

Wrong, Manjaro modifies their packages to make them easier to use and more user friendly. They also hold back packages and don’t update them right away for “stability” even though it causes major security holes… We are nothing like Manjaro, we aren’t retarded nor noob friendly.

>They also hold back packages and don’t update them right away for “stability” even though it causes major security holes…

I’m guessing this also applies to Debian?

Nope. Debian keeps the old versions, but backport the security patches. So you have the old versions with patches. Manjaro doesn’t patch anything.

ItsZariep 2022-08-10 19:13:26
Manjaro only delays updates
ItsZariep 2022-08-10 19:14:26
It is safe? technically yes, unless you use AUR, where you maybe to have issues with programs versions
