exec dbus-run-session icewm
why do you use exec
Rougreh 2022-09-09 05:57:40
anyways with it or without it, it starts in 5 seconds
Rougreh 2022-09-09 05:57:44
I wonder why It’s so slow….
ItsZariep 2022-09-09 05:57:46
Rougreh 2022-09-09 05:56:50
why do you use exec
The exec built-in command mirrors functions in the kernel, there are a family of them based on execve, which is usually called from C.

AndrewBenn 2022-09-09 07:08:10
did you create your own .xinitrc? Or use the one that came with xorg-xinit ? That one already has dbus set to go.
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:24:11
I made my own
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:24:14
well “made my own”

I’d recommend using/modifying the xorg-xinit .xinitrc just to see if you still get the delay. Likely your version is missing some key items or delayed somewhere within.
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:35:09
It’s more like I took one from r/unixporn

where does one find it?
AndrewBenn 2022-09-09 07:36:38
It’s a small file. Just 80-ish lines with a dozen comments.
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:36:58
found it
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:37:06
so what do I do with it?
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:37:10
it’s in /etc/X11
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:37:40
It has XFCE stuff
Rougreh 2022-09-09 07:37:51
which is probably because of alpine
AndrewBenn 2022-09-09 07:39:57
maybe not. I thought it got dropped with xorg-xinit. I don’t remember where mine came from on this machine.
