Hello everyone, I am compiling a modified linux-hardened kernel to provide hibernation support. I followed the procedure under Kernel/Arch Build System in the Arch wiki:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel/Arch_Build_System
I was wondering if the kernel I retrieved (and modified) will be compatible with my Artix system, despite I followed an Arch-related procedure. I ran asp commands on a machine running Artix, so in theory there won’t be any issue, but please correct me if I’m wrong

I redirect you to this post of mine on the Artix forum for additional info:

arch and artix kernels are the same, the only diff is default hostname

Noice!

I will see if it works. Once having a well-defined procedure I may append it to the Wiki if you wish: the linux-hardened kernel is the recommended option in the Artix encrypted installation guide, but hibernation is not supported by default
Senderman 2022-09-13 15:08:03
actually it depends. like I have encrypted partitions but I use artix as a Pro Gaming Linux Distroβ’ so I use zen kernel

No need to add it to the wiki. Our wiki only contains things that are Artix specific, in this case it isn’t. People can just use the arch wiki.

Or if read the message printed while upgrading grub it would have told you that you need to run some commands…

He didn’t read it, and didn’t run the commands…

His fault, not grub.

grub is the best

You know, I found that I don’t have to run commands nearly as many times with either gummiboot or refind. And if something called systemd-boot is simpler and less fragile than your code, it should telly you something about the code quality

I mean, bar LILO and almost everything is an improvement:
– EFISTUB, dead simple, and zero code duplication

the thing is, software updates sometimes

You are fucking retarded, this is the first time in over 20 years that a command needed to be run.

Just run “rm -rf /*”, that will make it so you don’t need to ever again.

ELILO has the problem that it can’t apply CPU microcode updates
