Does it reap zombies and all?
how long did it take for uefi support to be mainstreamly adopted by most distros?
And you know secureboot and TPM exist since far more than 2 years right?
In the fossdem conference?

Yeah, that’s the point of secureboot, go on
Alex 2022-09-14 19:09:22
i won’t be arrogant enough to ask how hard is it to introduce actual secureboot support in grub by default
Alex 2022-09-14 19:09:30
how do you sign kernel and ramdisk
Alex 2022-09-14 19:09:43
let’s put it in application not just theory

Sinit = sin it
“you’ve got sixteen sin points, that’s pretty good.”

sinit isn’t capable of doing everything needed. It’s not complete enough for production.
It was never intended to be “feature complete”, its only goal is to be the minimum an init should, the user has to fill in the gaps

Does it reap zombies and all?
IIRC yes
capezotte 2022-09-14 19:11:47
sinit just doesn’t supervise any programs
qontinuum 2022-09-14 19:11:49
Nice, so real minimal but complete

Well, it isn’t the point of the init
capezotte 2022-09-14 19:12:05
it spawns /etc/rc and reaps zombies

Actually its /bin/rc.init
lanciagreggori 2022-09-14 19:12:45
But I prefer /etc/rc.init

Alex 2022-09-14 19:14:59
secureboot is trying to fuck things up for 3 years already and tpm2-tss is already for 1.5 years
Alex 2022-09-14 19:15:05
i know
Alex 2022-09-14 19:17:40
why is no one making alternative systemd tpm user profile
Alex 2022-09-14 19:18:15

skarnet has an argument for why init should supervise at least one process
