Stop trying to send random shit to our users in private messages, seeing all the stupid things you say in here it is dangerous

Rougreh 2022-09-28 07:17:43
is the universe repo unofficial?
Yes it is unofficial but maintained by Artix dev
As for what he wants to pm you is to advocate for ZFS while you didn’t ask for it

why tf would a security person push speed over actual security
Because you can run seaweedfs inside firejail

Because you can run seaweedfs inside firejail
still I do not know how your suggestion even fits the topic
lordV 2022-09-28 09:11:41
The topic was syncronizing production and failover machine for a website that stores all data in a MySql database. What do you want to do with the seaweedfs?

He wants you to put the database on a network fs I guess
lordV 2022-09-28 09:13:08
If I run something like imageshack, then seaweedfs probably makes sense. But in this case, it makes no sense at all.
lordV 2022-09-28 09:15:32
what for? lol
qontinuum 2022-09-28 09:20:45
I guess he just clicked by mistake

Yohajdg627299 2022-09-28 09:06:31
Because you can run seaweedfs inside firejail
This makes it a bigger attack surface…
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:37:12
Cause now instead of fs -> firejail -> app it is fs -> firejail -> fs -> app
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:37:33
Very much simplifying that but still
lordV 2022-09-28 09:37:50
KISS is always the best..
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:38:08
Even if you had it as it’s own partition not ontop of another FS The more variance the more attack surface
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:38:32
That is why we stick to one fs for the entire server usually
lordV 2022-09-28 09:38:39
someone suggested me to connect a remote mysql server over a sshtunnel instead of using ssl + iptables.. (Two layers that can break vs one)

Am I reading this backwards?
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:40:59
Cause ssl + iptables seems like the better option
lordV 2022-09-28 09:41:37
no i just wanted to point.. that its always better keep it simple
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:42:13
oh I see I misread it. Yea makes sense
lordV 2022-09-28 09:42:33
of course ssl + iptables is the way to go.. its difficult to manage the ssh tunnel (split the errors from ssh and mysql)
UnicornBl00d 2022-09-28 09:42:58
Yea and doesn’t linux just have iptables by default. It is needed anyway
qontinuum 2022-09-28 09:54:11

Linux has netfilter, nftables and iptables are just the user space tools to interact with it
