By that logic, so is trademarks, copyleft, copyright, etc, etc… The do similar things yes, but the laws, enforcement, and protocols are all different.

i was messing around my home server and noticed i was using static ip and route on dhcpcd.conf, thought why should i use a daemon its just a one shot with $ip, worked on a live env, looked up how to persist routing tables during reboot

depending on what manager are you use you need to config

network managers are glorified dhcp clients, you dont need them if you dont use dhcp

I use NetworkManager to set my address, gateway, and mask manually because at the uni it doesn’t have dhcp. 🤦🏻‍♂
