Hi. Is there any way on how to install Nvidia-390xx drivers on Deepin?

I mean, I know one way, but it doesn’t seem to work properly.

I think the reason of my “root account is locked” error was Nvidia drivers, because Deepin installing drivers by default that’s too new for my laptop.

sudo usermod root –unlock

I need to enter this after installing Deepin?

You said something about your root user being locked. That command should unlock it.

Regarding your NVIDIA drivers, maybe you should check out GitHub

I heard NVIDIA has released more drivers for Linux recently

Here is one interesting thing, what with this error I can’t use console and even boot the system. So maybe it will work in Deepin Live ISO, if I will get it I’ll try.

I tested and I can install them from console but once I got one error and was unable to boot.

If you’re unable to boot then something is wrong with the init procedure, check out “journalctl -b” and determine that one kernel module or service that is causing the system to stop booting, and start debugging from there

I have a thought that I was unable to boot because of unsupported nvidia drivers by my GPU and even error said something like “This GPU was ignored by nvidia drivers 500x” and etc.

Maybe there IS something with the GPU, and the kernel module related to it can’t be loaded during boot. You can still cook a custom kernel with a working GPU module then load it, after installation. I think it is possible in theory, but never tried it.

I think it’s because of Deepin itself. Because if for example Ubuntu 22.04 in installation process already knows what kind of nvidia driver I need and installing 390xx offline, Deepin doesn’t care and installing Nvidia 500x drivers on old laptop where 390x is the latest supported driver.

You should report that issue. Perhaps they will fix it in the upcoming update.

You can still install the Deepin Desktop Environment on other distributions if you want to experience it.

Not so hard actually. I’m able to use Deepin without Nvidia. But if I will be able to install 390xx, it will be cool.
