Deepin Community strives to build a “root community”
The open source code does not know borders, and open source companies have borders
After the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Ubuntu developer, Canonical, announced the suspension of professional and support services for Russian companies. This is not the first operating system and open source community that presses the “pause button” in a “crisis moment”. At the beginning of March of this year, SUSE and Redhat also announced that they would no longer support companies related to Russia.
This series of practices has caused domestic users and the industry to worry about the safety risks of the open source operating system. Compared to the Debian community without a state community or control of a commercial company, Ubuntu and its derived distributions and communities face the threat of being “stuck” and “cut” at any time, and the safety of its system is even more impossible in critical moments. The guarantee is directly related to the sustainable development of the industry and the information security issues in the country.
Deepin 23 Preview is not to use, in fact it even brings rest and no improvement with respect to bugs or nothing because the same desktop implementation 20.4 used for the first port in the Alfa of 23 was used.
Deepin 23 Preview was only published so that the enthusiastic user observes how Linglong’s implementation began and that really works, for this a few Deepin app were pre -installed in that format.
Deepin 23 Preview is only a Frankenstein created for the community to take the first contact with Linglong.
New own base: What Ironically calls Deepin from scratch means the abandonment of Debian as such and of course APT .deb.
The base will be Deepin and its Linglong parcels with its own manager that we already show superficially.
Linglong is a package whose theoretical characteristics (in future tickets we will talk about them) exceed those of Snap Flatpak and Appimage; In addition to solving, the eternal problem of dependencies in .deb or .rpm.
Finally and as explained in the article, we still cannot affirm, if the jump will be definitive in version 23 or be carried out gradually, until reaching the objective. Although everything indicates that it will be disruptive.
Creating a basis for an operating system is not a task that can be completed in a week; Personally I was surprised because I have had an repocative access, where Deepin, already has about 400 linglong packages.
This is just the beginning and we try to explain it as nobody does.
