I used the FreeBSD 11 version and I thought it was great, but today I don’t know if I have the same desire to use FreeBSD.
What else do you prefer? Linux is a huge mess. Illumos focus on correctness but also on legacy support, which isn’t great for code quality either. OpenBSD is clean, but doesn’t offer the features FreeBSD offer.

Why is Firefox not built with clang LTO? Also, process sandboxing feature is missing!!!???

Do it yourself if you want it.
Learner_DR 2022-07-31 17:26:47
or if you don’t, change your OS.

Huh. I would. But my ssd is slow.

So do not complain.

20 Years of FreeBSD Jails (2019) –
YouTubeSpeaker: Michael W. Lucas
FreeBSD has been developing, enhancing, and improving its lightweight
virtualization system since 1999. Lucas takes us through modern jails,
where they come from, and the convoluted history than brought us to
their current state.

SSD. Slow. You must be too young to know what slow means 😉

Nice bot
n0madcoder 2022-08-01 13:32:31
We definitely need some bot control, I’m looking for a solution

Something similar to this?

Ronard 2022-08-02 00:51:57
You meant the controller of services and daemons?
Learner_DR 2022-08-02 04:57:35
If yes, it’s service(8).
Learner_DR 2022-08-02 04:57:45
or if you asking about apmd.
Learner_DR 2022-08-02 04:58:00
I would say, IDK anything about it on FreeBSD.
Learner_DR 2022-08-02 04:58:28
Check apm(8)
Learner_DR 2022-08-02 05:01:42
And we have apm service under /etc/rc.d/
Learner_DR 2022-08-02 05:06:17
It’s /etc/rc.d/apm.
You should set apm_enable to YES in /etc/rc.conf file.
I would do sysrc apm_enable=YES
Ronard 2022-08-02 09:55:19

Anyone using NsCDE on FreeBSD? Decided to give it try yesterday since my laptop is so old and slow. It’s quick and respensive. But I cannot seem to logout. The exit button on dock or in right-click menu don’t work at all.
Joey Kelly 2022-08-02 16:09:11
didn’t they tell you it was a trap?
Leuchs 2022-08-02 16:18:08
Are there any proprietary blobs into the kernel or the user-space of FreeBSD ?

https://t.me/FreeBSD1/30886 I guess this conversation has happened before (:

And all this time I thought it was completely Libre…
😓😔😞😩
krond 2022-08-02 17:58:49
Just a note: Linux community views ZFS as non-free, so most of the words in here can be misleading.
krond 2022-08-02 17:59:21
Some people view GPL as non-free license.
