My /boot partition has been deleted, how do I recreate thisRed Hat Customer Portal
The /boot (/dev/sda1) was added to a logical disk volume by mistake, and all data under /boot is destroyed . Used fdisk to create LVM device (added lvm flag) on /boot (multipath device from powerpath

Last time I installed Linux I was sure I would switch back to it. Now I’m stuck with more than 400 gigabytes of precious SSD space allocated to it. Usually if I do decide to install Linux it’s at the end of the disk so I can erase it without any hassle. :/

Yeah I’d rather have the space back, but it is less neat because the Linux root partition is now at the beginning of the drive.

ryder_099 2022-07-13 13:29:53
I’ll nuke it / remake EFI the next time I reinstall Windows.

you should have made linux partition on partition number 3, and windows on Partition number 2, so that you could easily delete that linux partition.

princegaut 2022-07-13 13:31:20
wishing you best for reinstalling whole system

princegaut 2022-07-13 13:31:33

ryder_099 2022-07-13 13:32:01
I didn’t do that because at the time of this Linux installation I was doing a full system clean installation
ryder_099 2022-07-13 13:32:06
I do that from time to time
ryder_099 2022-07-13 13:32:45
Expected to switch to Linux again, needed Windows within a day, then practically never used the installation again.
princegaut 2022-07-13 13:32:58
honestly, dual boot sucks , try running linux only monk mode (lmao) if you are a software developer or computer scientist
princegaut 2022-07-13 13:33:13
but if you like movies and shit god help you
princegaut 2022-07-13 13:33:16

ryder_099 2022-07-13 14:16:06
You can’t expand partitions to the left.

you can

Well, not with diskpart. EaseUS or other dedicated tools can do it.

smol_mazunki 2022-07-13 14:16:50
so it’s not nearly good enough
