I was just thinking about how cool would it be to have ssh work with certificates and i wish that there was such a thing. Aaaand turns out there is.

Definitely talking about enterprise. And that’s a good observation

The thing with ssh is that you don’t really verify the host as a client

You just get prompted to say yes i trust this server

It works like a charm

With an ssh key you copy that key to the server to authenticate you.

You copy your public key there right?

Yes you do

And then when you make the initial connection it says do you trust this host correct, which then you hit enter

Pretty much blindly believing that you are indeed connecting to that server. What if an attacker puts an ssh server btwn you and the server you are trying to connect and let’s you in his machine instead. And then does some fuckery afterwards

If I’m trying to connect to it yeah i trust it. Otherwise there is no calculated decision when we hit yes i trust this server
