I don’t know who wrote that guide but I would straight up avoid it
ufoludek 2022-08-16 17:08:22
Also since this is just a single piece of software instead of filling my system with trash and other stuff I would spin this inside a container
ufoludek 2022-08-16 17:08:26
Podman/Docker for example

@Wolfshappen im on vbox, I have a vm with NAT, i can connect to the host and ssh is working, but from host to vm NOT.
both vm and host have ip addresses in common range,
firewalls are off
whats your idea?
Have you taken note of my “on decent virtualization, like NOT VBOX and instead libvirt” 😛

i had that done in less than 5 mins
I uninstall some kind of software due to which the look and other things are gone and this is the result ☝️
baguette_dad 2022-08-16 17:22:02
Nice

Wolfshappen 2022-08-16 17:22:42
Unless the bridge filter is loaded by podman 3 (or yourself) this works.
ddhossein 2022-08-16 17:48:00
Wolfshappen 2022-08-16 17:22:25
thats fine then, ok i need to install kvm instead

Yeah, especially with virt-manager powering it. No kernel modules needed and plenty fast

I just downloaded around 25M for this bad boy and it has all the features i want,
yeah i can feel the fluency of the VMs

yeah but this is going to be used when you have multiple dockers (using macvlan) on the vm or doing nested virtualization

Outside of media playback but there’s a few tricks to make that behave better too xD

Virtio-GPU = virtual GPU device
virglrenderer = host bridge for guest acceleration (on host)
virgl = OpenGL driver for Virtio-GPU
venus = Vulkan driver for Virtio-GPU
