You could expand from @siduck link. Check if certain file/directory exists in $pwd (e.g, package.json for node, Cargo.toml for rust, etc).

I suggest go with Fedora
try it for some days, if you ever need to reinstall an OS then go with an Arch based.

but it’s resource usage is better than gnome close to kde usage.
and you should try to change themes and looks to get better feeling
