Hello, I wrote here that it is localhost, right?
darksecretz 2022-09-01 13:16:37
No. Windows 11 with 8gb ram runs terribly.. Linux with 2gb ram performs better.. I am not talking about the app performance or nothing, just booting and getting things clear
princegaut 2022-09-01 13:45:56

hi guys
could you tell me about what should I expect from an OS?
then what os/diatro has the least challenge to achieve that expectations?

I’ve tried some linux diatros but never had a bsd.
I just want to have a computer that works well, in case I need a package the installation process be easy and safe. the packages be update and so

ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:47:40
I’ve a Ryzen 7 5700U, 16GB of DDR4 ram at 3200MHz (2 channels ofc), and a decently fast NVMe drive (about 3.2GB/s read speeds), and Windows 11 still isn’t great
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:47:52
and booting without fast start-up is the worst experience I’ve ever had
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:47:57
like sometimes 30 to 40 seconds boot
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:48:08

BSD is even more niche, FreeBSD is probably the easiest to get into as a Linux user, but even then I don’t see many benefits for desktop users

ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:49:34
as for a good Linux distro, Arch if you’re picky, Fedora if you’re not
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:49:44
Artix, if you want Arch without systemd

I’m not sure I have to worry about systemd.

but I installed arch yesterday with kde plasma and some other packages. still the installation and configuration not finished and it seems this fucking purity of arch wont let it finish. every corner I look needs to take an action to work as expected.

I’ve used Arch for most of my hardware, and I’ve never had trouble

ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:58:18
although I now migrated to Fedora on my laptop
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-01 13:58:24

my love for Arch comes down to having linux-zen in the repos, and having the AUR lmao

Why are people so paranoid abt getting their data sold

i want to watch youtube for my work related some times i use for entertainment but youtube keeps collecting data and keep suggesting more entertainment feed which makes me distracted and less productive if we need to comment then they want us to put our mail id …so ya its irritating when they collect data

garuda’s UI sucks tbh. bloat. too many processes are running in the background.
