If it’s not in lsblk that looks like a hardware problem
(Or you might be missing some kernel module responsible for this but that is extremely unlikely unless you compiled the kernel manualy)

I’m not sure what to think about a change to the upcoming iphone design.. I can see some major limitations to it but at least it’s less wasteful, though it’s not really the focus as to the switch to digital sim cards. Apparently the iphone 14 models will no longer have sim card trays, but will instead use something called ‘eSim’

Are you trying to test out data transfer or just ‘working’ in general? Maybe if just ‘working’ in general just attempting to use the USB as a charger might be enough of a test. But yah recommend finding another PC/device to test with just in case.

Never used an esim? Its not new. Its been around for 5 years or even more maybe. I’ve used it for a while on my devices

I was aware it existed but it wasn’t as common on all Android devices, it was surprising to see Apple being an ‘innovator’ on something good for once.

I’m on one of the handset makers that’s fighting it in fact. But I don’t pay for my phone or the plan so I don’t really have much choice. I MIGHT go with one of those z flip things in a generation or two, maybe a ‘5’ or ‘6’ if they do that far/sequence of numbering/naming.

Yeah i’ve been wondering how long it would take. Samsung and google have tbeen supporting it since 2016 and 2017 as well. And a lot of smart watches have been using it since hte beginning i think

That’s honestly my biggest complaint about most modern phones, there’s not many options for smaller sizes unless you really sacrifice performance or go for some weird ‘niche’ style, like a modern fold.

I’m on a s21 myself, I think it’s a little too big. But the person providing the plan is on one of those ‘samsung forever’ setups, and back when I got it there weren’t nearly as many options in the galaxy lineup.

Yeah you can use ESim. If your carrier has implemented it yet

probably not happening anytime soon here, as we ‘recently’ had to swap from the old sprint simcard to a t-mobile one to get better service.

bf’s on sprint before they merged with t-mobile, but where we’re at is on the ‘edge’ of a city that might get it here soon, so we’re likely to get it soon after or around then.

have fully implemented e-sim. Just because it’s available doesn’t mean all stores have implemented the tech to switch it over, or training. I’ve seen some pretty dumb stuff happen at grocery stores when it comes to training, though the dumbest thing I saw at a phone store wasn’t the workers.

i’ve got pretty low standards for a lot of the places around here. Even before COVID.

Lol its nothing to do with a store by store basis. Its a company wide basis. They don’t gotta change anything in the store or the network in the area

They either do or they don’t. Activating the sim is exactly the same process as activating a normal physical sim
