If I install it on a VM (Boxes in Fedora) can I later migrate it on my physical ssd?

flatpak was criticized for being bloated, but it’s only got larger packages when you’re installing stuff for the first time, because flatpak dependencies are flatpaks, so it has to download them too
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 14:59:58
unlike AppImage, the dependencies can (and are) shared between packages
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:00:12
which doesn’t really affect functionality, but means significantly slimmer packages
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:00:41
AppImages, however, work really well as portable executable, as they typically include everything you need to get up and running out of the box
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:00:58
unlike most flatpaks, snaps, and traditional packages

HUGE Speed Differences! Flatpak vs. Snap vs. AppImageYouTube

We’re going to be focusing on flatpaks, snaps, and appimages. All of these have the benefit of being independent from your Linux distribution, meaning that no matter what version or distribution of Linux we’re running, you can run all of these packaging formats. And this differs from something like APT, pacman, DNF, whatever it may be, because those are distributions specific package management systems.

that said, AppImages are much harder to integrate, and imo are pretty messy
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:02:40
if a distro manages to integrate AppImages like macOS’s apps folder, that’d be great
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:02:50
would still be a LOT more bloated
ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:02:59
but easier to manage, and easier to get up and running

ActuallyNotGelb 2022-09-08 15:04:18
Manjaro is NOT Arch
astralentity 2022-09-08 15:06:40
Manjaro does their own thing and it was breaking for me. I switched to Endeavour.
India Tech Support 2022-09-08 15:08:07
As long as you do everything manjaro
India Tech Support 2022-09-08 15:08:19

I installed avideo script. During the installation process, there is a command to create a user database and there is no command to create a database for Encoder. Do I need to create another database for Encoder?

I never tried distros which come with a Window Manager out of the box. but I’ll suggest Arch Linux because it gives you alot of choices to choose your GUI.

Hmmm

You’ll face issues because Manjaro is trash 😀

Idk why would you say that. I’ve had my best experience with Manjaro (Gnome) so far.
What would you recommend instead?

Chaiytanya 2022-09-08 16:01:54
Anyone here played coc in Linux?
Kiro 2022-09-08 16:16:51
I want to try installing arch just to learn from the experience and maybe someday migrate to it

usually user is needed with full privileges, other things like database and tables should be created by the script or application itself. if you send screenshot about the error, that would be more helpful to troubleshoot

Does anyone have Fedora or any Linux distro on a laptop with Ryzen 5 3500U? I just noticed that cpupower frequency-info shows the frequency range between 1.4GHz and 2.1GHz, while this CPU should be able to reach 3.7GHz on single core (as claimed by AMD and as it always did on Windows)

boost state support:
Supported: no
Active: no
Boost States: 0
Total States: 3
Pstate-P0: 2100MHz
Pstate-P1: 1700MHz
Pstate-P2: 1400MHz

Any way to add the boost states? I know it says it’s not supported but it doesn’t make sense since the cpu itself supports it.

Are you sure the CPU isn’t actually boosting, when using the schedutil governor?

Let me try change the governor

Kiro 2022-09-08 17:35:51
I setted schedutil as governor but it still says supported: no active: no and doesn’t show any boost state
