You can use onboard or Bluetooth

I remember when that wasn’t a option for me. Back before Linux was as good as it is I had a Xp tower that didn’t have working onboard and I found out later the person who made it knew. Found out when I opened it up myself for something, can’t remember what. The Rom drive was missing the connection to send audio, so the guy who built it likely knew there were issues.

Maybe not but SOME did need it hooked up to properly broadcast audio to onboard audio.
