Don’t know how but just had to restart my system a few hours ago after nearly 90% of my RAM AND swap were in use just idling with normal programs running, no games or music players.
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:19:09
I got 2 gigs swap and 16 ..well little under 16 gigs RAM, and it was using 1.5 and 14 respectively.

then, u boot it, update grub to include all entries, and ..go

alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:42:13
did u notice which apps were using it
that’s just it, they were apps that normally don’t use that much memory. All the ‘top’ ram/cpu usage was normal stuff.
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:44:56
hm
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:45:11
well normal shit-sign
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:45:14
I mean right now with everything normal running including spotify is only using around 8 and a half.
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:45:34
and no swap
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:45:48
u can try next time part reboot, not really reboot, but exit X server and it auto restarts
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:46:03
the cli reboot basically?
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:46:13
the gui reboot
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:46:27
restart x or wayland, by killing it
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:46:55
cntrl alt delete ( the normal, by the numbers one ) sometimes kills it
alexmb7 2022-09-17 00:47:29
its just a small idea no real fix, for fix i blindly suggest u update to newest sources , but.thats.out.of.scope
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:49:09
unless I switch to ‘bleeding edge’ version or manually set to different I’m already on the newest sources.
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:51:14
Just checked a few seconds ago using the GUI updater after switching to pre-release. Will try terminal next.
cancrl18 2022-09-17 00:52:16
Yep still nothing. Hell there was stuff I could remove.

I dunno, I get that from time to time where suddenly an app just misbehaves. I usually just gotta kill it. Telegram desktop is a good example
