Practice Linux installation in a virtual machine. Depending on the distribution, different procedures are available for installing Linux.
But you shouldn’t focus on the installation aspect of Linux that much as many distros out there already have that covered.
You priority should be understanding the Linux system especially it’s cli. And if you still want to manually install Linux, I’d advise you to get familiar with the Linux partitioning system for starters; like knowing about the root, swap, and home partitions.
There isn’t more I can say about this but generally, Linux installation shouldn’t be a problem to worry about. Just choose a beginner friendly distribution to start with.
Complexity does not indicate greatness but rather the convenience and usability of a system is what really counts.

Most Linux books I’ve come across hardly focus on installation. But if you’re that ambitious to take on bigger problems, maybe consider building an arch Linux system
