“VTerm is a terminal emulator written entirely in JavaScript using preact, a react-like library to create reactive user interfaces(UIs).”
What makes you think I would use a terminal emulator written in JS?

inside emacs?
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:42:41
what terminal you use inside emacs
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:43:47
I am looking for alternative of vterm
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:44:11
you mention you use emacs so i asked

I played around with Emacs, but I never used the graphical version, just emacs-nox inside a terminal emulator.
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:44:56
ohh that new name
netzverweigerer 2022-08-01 12:45:12
I never understood why people use the graphical versions of Emacs or VIM.

how its different from emacs -nw

It’s precisely that, you just don’t install megabytes of stuff you won’t need if you use the -nox package, the behaviour is exactly like you use -nw
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:49:17
there is no single video of emacs-nox demonstation
netzverweigerer 2022-08-01 12:49:42
I’m not an Emacs expert, my apologies 🙂
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:49:50
np
neovoidtk 2022-08-01 12:50:36
wait but you still have to install emacs to use emacs-nox right?

There’s usually a -nox package available in most distributions, and that’s precisely what I use so I don’t need to alias emacs to something with -nw on every installation.

Is there a different between dbus and dbus-elogind?

At leat in Emacs you can use S-RETURN and other key chords not available (normally) to a terminal emulator. Also you get the ability to see images and all GUI goodness.

That’s great and all, but absolutely not something that fits my workflow by any means. If I want to see images, I use an image viewer program, and when I press Enter, I mean Return. Shift-Enter is actually bound in ALL of my window managers or desktop environments, to maximize a window, and I have zero intent to change that.

Yes, sorry, inverting colours.
marcotrosi 2022-08-01 13:57:47
and why would that be a flag inside the video file/format?

I can read the colour information differently according to the byte information…
nut3l4 2022-08-01 13:59:42
Like saying: the format is YYCC I dunno but it really is RGB so all the colours would be wrong.

Is there a different between dbus and dbus-elogind?
yes, they’re not related at all
smol_mazunki 2022-08-01 14:01:39
logind is responsible for allocating devices to users when they log in
smol_mazunki 2022-08-01 14:01:52
dbus is an inter-process communication daemon
