what all common folders in / that need to be backed up
https://www.redhat.com/sysadmin/backup-dirs
This provides general info on what each folder in / is for
9 Linux directories you must back up and one you shouldn’t –
Enable SysadminOne of the first questions new sysadmins ask is, “What should I back up?” Here’s the answer.

I made the switch to Wayland, once more. I lost track of the number of switches, probably 4 or 5
Ceda EI 2022-08-26 12:33:19
this time out of necessity since configuring Multihead over two graphics cards is pain on Xorg and it just worked out of box on sway
Ceda EI 2022-08-26 12:39:34
anyways,
are shadows still not implemented in sway?
Ceda EI 2022-08-26 12:54:24
also, is there a conky alternative?

try this: https://github.com/fluix-dev/sway-borders
it says it supports drop shadows as border
GitHub – fluix-dev/sway-borders: Fork of sway with some extra features, mainly related to borders. –

I came across this, it started as a PR to sway which ddevault said

Add border images by fluix-dev · Pull Request #5639 · swaywm/sway –
GitHubEverything has been moved to my fork where I’ll be adding adding more flashier features to Sway. I’ll be updating the README there shortly to reflect the latest changes.

which I kinda get but drop shadows are not a “flashy” feature. They are an absolute necessity. Everything looks flat without shadows and windows are hard to differentiate

Will give it a shot though

It’s twm, right ? So, there’s hardly gonna be any window overlapping, unless you use too much floating windows. And so, identifying active border by different color should also work just fine. I don’t use any compositor most of the time in my old laptop and can still work perfectly fine

Use tmux (or some other tool like this)

Sway, floating windows have no depth, window borders blend with background, etc

picom has inactive dim and stuff, but sway doesnt
cause sway is a wayland compositor and not an xorg window manager

it’s unrelated to wayland vs xorg

it’s mainly because they don’t care too much
smol_mazunki 2022-08-27 12:46:14
i think they closed some issues about it because it’s not prioritized, but if someone implements it and plugs a PR they’d probably accept it
