You should store you important data on separate partition. Or set /home on separate partition, like i always do, because i know every a few months i’m gonna reinstall venom, because of new release and some because of fkup system😄

In my case:
Personal data –> others disks
Home –> just configs, scritps,walls
backups –> dotfiles in two different repos, tarballs from / one each kernel version, tarballs from /home one a week

Then dont count😄

is not hard for me to backup since I technically only have 1 personal data folder

but still kinda heavy

Me;
/home separated for config and home stuffs
/mnt/data for static important data like pictures, movies and etc

Because of its heavy-ness you should stored it on separated partition in first placed, so no need to move around when need to reinstall system.

It would be to ‘scratch install’ a ‘cat world’:

# scratch install $(cat world)

from your backups, and you would have everything by resolving the dependencies and path, the file in /var/lib/scrathpkg/world would complete correctly.

tg_owt gives me wrong checksums, I did redownload source and run portsync

Try bypass it by using -m

tg_owt did not work after updating either, so I compile it with the -m option

Even tho I’m not a venom user I still love to follow the development of this awesome project keep it up. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think venom is bad and therefore don’t use it I just prefer nixOS as my distribution of choice.
